Why do you ride: I love to be outside! I have always liked riding my bike ever since I was a girl when I saved
up my money for a purple bike! I rode every day and in college my blueRaleigh bike was my transportation! then took about a 20 year hiatus from riding (got married, had
five kids!) and rediscovered cycling when a girlfriend had the bright idea of doing a triathlon. My husband bought me
a pink Orbea and I started riding March 2005....
and last year logged 6,000 miles between the road and Quintana Roo tri bike!
What kind of advice would you give to beginner
riders: I am a beginner mt biker and taking in all of the advice! but yes, if I can anybody can!
Worst wipeout: August 2008. one hot
and humid morning, my sunglasses were fogged over, my hands sweaty and I was training for Ironman Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. I set out
on a 112 mile race simulation ride and on Fortson road, got a migraine, got the patchy vision and veered off the downhill
road and into the ditch! as I laid there by myself with the bike on top of me, gravel and dirt on me, I had one thought
"my Ironman is in two weeks, GET UP!" and I hopped up and put water on my gash in my leg, analyzed my shoulder road rash, straightened my helmet and got back on the
bike... still had the migraine, popped an Excedrin pill and stopped into a convenience store to beg a Coke and continued riding,
ending up with about 90 miles and then ran 6 afterwards on a stinkin' hot day!
